Lying is a part of the political system and it is firmly rooted in power. At the same time, politicians are the generators of fake news . Every day They post lies on the Internet.
The strategy has a long tradition. It was very common to make secret deals or hide the truth. It was required for the success of political acts and a condition to succeed in elections. The fewer people know what happened in the chambers of power-- the better.
Politics is a lier's game, a dishonest business.
Members of the public condemn the lying but they don't behave better themselves.

As long the Big Corp have the politicians in their pockets the hope is dim.
But lately I see the EU start to step in the footprints of USA, where Big Corp is using proxies/lobbyist to promote their $$$ interest at any cost.
